Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle has dismissed rumors linking Town with a move for Hibernian striker Derek Riordan.

The 22-year-old Scotland international scored 23 goals for the Easter Road side but has been transfer listed after he rejected a new deal.

Town manager Joe Royle has dismissed the talk, saying: “I've seen the stories but there has been no contract whatsoever between ourselves and Hibernian Football Club.”

Hibs manager Tony Mowbray has also denied any firm interest in Derek, saying: “At the moment there is nothing concrete or definite. We are not sticking any figures or prices on Derek.

“I've told him we'd love the situation to be resolved with him staying here, where we believe he can continue his football education.

“He still has a lot of developing to do, especially if he wants to play on the bigger stage down south.”

It was believed that Town would go for Derek if Darren Bent was sold.
