Derek: Joe Will Have Cash - If Kelvin Goes

Ipswich Town Chief Executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that Town manager Joe Royle will have money to spend if Kelvin Davis moves on.

Town have already made sold Darren Bent for £2.5million this transfer window and Kelvin Davis is expected to follow him out the Portman Road exit with expected fee of £1.3million having been agreed between Town and Sunderland.

 

Derek has confirmed Joe Royle will have money to spend if Kelvin leaves, saying: “Kelvin is not a free agent but the Club has accepted an offer from Sunderland and he is free to talk to them.

 

“He is holding discussions with them and we will see what develops from there.

 

“If Kelvin does move - and that will be down to him - the Club would be in a position to move quickly into the transfer market.

 

“At the moment, even with Darren Bent joining Charlton, we have little room for manoeuvre until we know where we stand with the four out of contract players.

 

“But if Kelvin agrees personal terms with Sunderland then we could move into the transfer market virtually immediately and there will be money available for Joe.”
