Pablo Set For Malaga Move

Former Ipswich Town striker Pablo Couñago has been offered a contract by La Liga side Malaga following his release by Town.

The 25-year-old striker spent four years at Town and scored 35 goals in just over 100 games for Town, including a hat-trick in the UEFA cup qualifying round against FC Avenir Beggen in 2002.

 

But a reported bust up with Town manager Joe Royle saw the Spaniard almost frozen out of the Town first team and placed on the free transfer list, Pablo rejected a loan move to Preston and permanent move to Spanish second division side Cordoba in order to stay and fight for his place at Town but never managed to regain his first team spot and was released at the end of last month.

 

Couñago is expected to undergo a medical with Malaga tomorrow before signing for the side that finished 10^th in La Liga last season.
