Royle Eyeing Defender

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle says the club is in contact with top premiership teams sides about the possibility of bringing in a defender on-loan.

It is well known that Joe would like at least one defender before the start of the season and with David Unsworth looking more likely to stay at Portsmouth Joe has been looking elsewhere.

 

Royle: “We are still looking to bring in at least one new defender before the start of the season.

 

“We are waiting to see if the situation regarding Unsy is going to change, but we are not oblivious to other players who could come into the reckoning.

 

“As I have said before, it is down to budget. I have never disguised the fact that I would love to have Unsy here on a permanent basis, but his situation is certainly not clear-cut.

 

“With this in mind we are in contact with top Premiership clubs about players who might not be expected to figure regularly in their first teams in the new season.”
