Darryl Knights scored twice as a young Ipswich Town side beat non-league Dereham in friendly last night.
Town were 1-0 down within 60 seconds of the whistle, thanks to a 25-yard net buster from Dereham. Knights scored twice in the first half to give Town a 2-1 lead at half time. Danny Haynes made it 3-1 on the hour and James Krause rounded off the scoring with a diving header into the net with ten minutes remaining.
Academy coach Paul Goddard: “It was one of the best goals I've seen for a while and rocked the boys back a bit, it took the team a while to settle but Darryl Knights scored midway through the first-half and we went on from there to control most of the game.
“There were a number of changes at the break and all through the second-half and we ended up with a team of first years at the end but it was a good run-out for the boys.”
