Garvan To Play

Ipswich Town midfielder Owen Garvan will be given the chance to stake a claim for a place in the Town first team for next season when he lines up against Ujpest tonight.

The 17-year-old Irish midfielder has been named in the starting line-up for tonight’s game against Hungarian side Ujpest, Garvan will take up position in the Town midfield alongside Jim Magilton, Ian Westlake and Darren Currie.   

 

Town assistant manager Willie Donachie, who is taking charge of the game while Joe Royle continues to recover from knee surgery, has said: “You never really know for sure until he is exposed to the higher level but Owen seems to handle every situation thrown at him. He has earned this place starting in the senior side and is there by right.”
