Ipswich Town have taken former Charlton defender Mark Fish on trial and he will be given a chance to impress Joe Royle in tomorrow’s game against Colchester.

The 31-year-old spent five years at Charlton, making 101 league appearances his debut was against Town in November 2000.

He turned down a move to Manchester United in favour of Serie A side for Lazio before moving to the premiership with Bolton Wanderers for a fee of £2million and has been capped 60 times by South Africa.

Town boss Joe Royle said: “Mark is a free agent and is training with us.

“He will join the squad for the game at Colchester and will play at least a half.”
