Team news and manager previews ahead of Town’s Carling Cup first round tie against Yeovil at Portman Road tonight.

Town manager Joe Royle is still with out a number of first team players but as is the norm for Carling Cup games it won’t be a first team side more of a youth/reserve side with Aidan Collins and Jimmy Juan both starting. Jim Magilton has been left out of the squad while Fabian Wilnis will start on the bench.

Town manager Joe Royle: “They scored lots of goals last season and they will relish coming to Portman Road and playing at such a great stadium on a perfect pitch, they will certainly be looking forward to putting one over on us. They have several dangerous looking players and Phil Jevons in particular is someone I know a lot about.

“He was at Everton when I was manager there and I always knew that he would go on to make a good career for himself in the game.

“He scored a sackload of goals for Yeovil last season and will be keen to prove that he can play at a higher level.”

Town squad: Dean Bowditch, Scott Barron, Chris Casement, Aidan Collins, Darren Currie, Owen Garvan, Kevin Horlock, Jimmy Juan, Dean McDonald, Richard Naylor, Jaime Peters, Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Sito Castro, Shane Supple, Ian Westlake, Fabian Wilnis.

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson will be bringing a full strength squad to Portman Road and he will be hoping that new signing Luciano Alvares’ is cleared in time to make his debut.

Gary Johnson: “The game with Ipswich will be a totally different game to the league matches we have had recently and it's a game the lads can go out and enjoy. Obviously there is pressure to win the game, but it's one to look forward to where you are not expected to win the game.

“The boys can relax, get their game going and get some confidence for the Swindon and Chesterfield games.

“We don't want to get out passed by Ipswich because that is our style and we want to get our passing game going. There is a game there to be won and if we can win it the boost in confidence will be just what we need.”
