Preview: Millwall – Town

Team news and more ahead of Town’s championship clash with bottom of the table Millwall at the New Den tomorrow.

Town are with out just two players for tomorrow’s game, defender Jason De Vos has not recovered from cracked ribs while Nicky Forster is suffering with a knee injury. Goalkeeper Lewis Price returns to league action and Sam Parkin is included in the squad but is still a minor doubt.

 

Town squad: Dean Bowditch, Aidan Collins, Darren Currie, Owen Garvan, Kevin Horlock, Jimmy Juan, Jim Magilton, Dean McDonald, Richard Naylor, Sam Parkin, Jaime Peters, Lewis Price, Matt Richards, Louis Sito Castro, Shane Supple, Ian Westlake, Fabian Wilnis.

 

Town manager Joe Royle: “It's important that we turn in a good performance and get the points at the Den, we were poor in midweek but we all know where our priorities lie and if we can win at Millwall, everyone will forget the Yeovil result.”

 

Royle continued: “Millwall have not had the best of starts and lost a lost of players during the summer but they had a good win against Bristol Rovers in midweek and I'm sure they will be looking to build on that on Saturday.”

 

Millwall manager Colin Lee could hand league debuts to striker Carl Asaba and goalkeeper Paul Jones but Jones has former Town ‘keeper Andy Marshall to contend with now he’s back from suspension. Lions defender Matt Lawrence is out with a knee injury.

 

Millwall boss Colin Lee: “I'm hoping Tuesday night's win against Bristol Rovers will boost the confidence in our squad. Obviously there was a lot of pressure on us having gone through the traumas of the previous Saturday at Reading. It took a lot of bottle for the players to go out there and perform like they did, especially in the second-half.

 

“Obviously Ipswich are going to be a totally different proposition as they have a lot better quality within the team, and therefore we will have to play much better against them than we did against Bristol Rovers.

 

“Winning any football match is bound to give you confidence and we want to try and get into a winning habit, which we can hopefully do tomorrow.”
