Dean Willing To Fight For Place

Ipswich Town striker Dean Bowditch says he is willing to fight for a place in Town’s first team rather than go out on-loan.

The 19-year-old striker was dropped from the starting 11 for Town against Preston on Monday and didn’t even feature in the squad against Millwall despite starting for Town against Yeovil last Tuesday.

 

Dean: “The Yeovil performance was very disappointing for me and the team but a person should not be judged on one game.

 

“We played really well against Sheffield Wednesday and I felt I played my part in that, so it is not fair to be judged just on the Yeovil game.

 

“Leaving me out on Saturday was really disappointing and then not to get on against Preston was very frustrating.

 

“I just want to play football because I love the game, so this is really hard for me.  

 

“I’m working my socks off in training and it is just not happening, although I know it is up to me to find a way of making it happen.

 

“I have spoken with the manager and really all I can do is take on board what he says and try my best to make it work.

 

“I have to find a way of impressing him. There is obviously something he doesn’t like and I have to find what it is and try and impress him.

 

“The only way I will get into the team is for him to like what I’m doing and be playing and scoring.

 

“I will use these reserve games to prove to him I can play and I can score and that I’m good enough to be in the team.”
