Jim: We Need Players

Ipswich Town captain Jim Magilton has today stated the obvious by saying Town need to add to the squad.

Town have a squad of 28 players but only 14 players you could really call experienced with the remainder of the squad being from the youth squad and Jim feels the lack of depth could cost us dear.

 

Jim: “We need strengthening now, before it is too late. I know the directors are trying to save money and I'm the first to admit that I wouldn't want that job.

 

“But as things stand, for this club to finish in the play-offs this season would be a fantastic achievement. We've done okay with the resources we have to hand but we need to bring in experienced players.

 

“Even last season, when things went so well for a large part of the season, we were affected when Shefki Kuqi got injured. It shook the momentum.

 

“We are a lot weaker now after the departures in the summer, to the point where being without two players - Ian Westlake and Nicky Forster - is almost seen as a crisis.”
