Bent In England Squad

Former Ipswich Town striker Darren Bent has been named in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England squad for the world cup qualifiers this month.

Bent left Portman Road in the summer and joined Charlton Athletic for £2.5 million, with more money depending on appearances for England and Charlton, if Bent plays for England against Poland or Austria later this month Town will benefit finically, a cash sum believed to be in the region of £500,000 - £750,000 will come Town’s way if he plays for England twice (well that’s if I understood the interview with Mr Sheepshanks). Bent is currently joint top scorer in the Premiership along with Manchester United’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

 

England Squad: Ashley Cole, Sol Campbell, Darren Bent, Luke Young, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Phil Neville, Jamie Carragher, Peter Crouch, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Kieran Richardson, Alan Smith, Michael Owen, Robert Green, David Beckham, Jermain Defoe, Jermaine Jenas, Ledley King, Paul Robinson, Chris Kirkland.

 

England play Austria on the 8^th and Poland on the 12^th, both games at Old Trafford.
