Jay Would Take Scot Call

On-loan Blackburn Rovers defender Jay McEveley says he would play for Scotland if he was given the chance.

The 20-year-old has been capped by England at under-21 level but FIFA rule changes which allow players under the age of 21 to switch national sides despite having played for different nations at youth levels.

 

Jay: “Berti Vogts spoke to Graeme Souness about me a few years back when he was in charge of the Scotland national team, it gave me a lift then and if Scotland expressed an interest in me again then that would be fantastic.

 

“Every footballer wants to play at the highest level and for me that means international football.

 

“It's one of my big ambitions in the game and if Scotland offered me the chance to play on that stage it would be a great honour.”

 

Jay qualifies to play for Scotland through his grandparents.
