Vemund Brekke-Skard has agreed to sign the one and a half year contract offered to him by Town yesterday.

The 24-year-old midfielder is flying back to Norway after today’s training session with Town to sort out some personal issues before returning to England on Monday to start his new career as a professional footballer rather than an amateur footballer and teacher.

Town manager Joe Royle: “He was shocked and delighted in equal proportions. His face was a picture and, in truth, it was lovely to see his reaction.

“Vemund has done very well in the short time we have seen him and deserves this. He is a different type of midfielder to the ones we have already. He is defensively minded in midfield and gets everywhere.”

If Skard is not registered as a professional footballer in Norway he could make his Town debut against Derby County next Wednesday, if how ever he is registered as a professional he wont be able to play for Town until the January transfer window.
