Ipswich Town defender Scott Mitchell will be out of action until the New Year following an operation on a groin injury.

The 20-year-old has been sidelined since the end of last season after damaging ankle ligaments, a injury that required surgery, after returning to training following that operation he started having trouble with his groin.

Town physio Dave Williams: “The ankle is fine now and Scott was back in training for two or three weeks before he started suffering with the groin problem, we took him to a specialist and it was found that he needed surgery to repair the groin.

“The operation has been a success and he should return to training around Christmas time.”
