Joe: Time For A Cup Run

Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle believes now is the right time for Town to mount a run in the FA cup.

Town have been drawn at home against Premiership side Portsmouth in the 3^rd round of the FA Cup and Royle believes that game is one Town could win and the time may be right for a Cup Run.

 

Joe: “I have seen at close quarters with Everton and Oldham what pleasures an FA Cup run can bring and this might be the right time for Ipswich to have one.

 

“We will start underdogs against a side that is better than their recent results suggest but we will be at home and there will not be the same pressure on us as playing one of the non-league sides.

 

“We will have a realistic chance and it will be a good test for us. I maintain that we are on the turn and that better things are ahead this season.

 

“The play-offs are not beyond us if we can find some consistency, but a cup run would be timely.”

 

If Town do progress to the fourth round they will net £40000.
