De Vos: PNE Is Vital

Ipswich Town defender Jason De Vos believes that Town’s game with Preston on Tuesday night is vital to Town’s play-off hopes.

Preston are six points above Town after both sides drew today but the lilywhites have a game in hand over Town.

 

De Vos: “Although we are disappointed to only get a point against Millwall we haven't lost any ground on Preston and it sets up Tuesday as a massive match between us, we had chances to make the game safe early doors against Millwall but that's football. We've been playing some good football but it wasn't a good day at the office for us.

 

“Conceding a late equaliser makes it feel like a loss, really. We were in a position to capitalise on some of the other results but unfortunately it didn't work out like that.

 

“No team is going to go undefeated between now and the end of the season so we have to take the positives out of the match and that is that we didn't lose. We becoming a lot more resolute as a team; we're giving away fewer chances and conceding fewer goals so that's a positive.

 

“In football you need continuity and missing a game last weekend didn't help in that respect. Sometimes if you have a break, as we did with the postponed game against Preston, it can work against you. However, we mustn't make excuses; we should have taken advantage today and we didn't.

 

“If we can get everyone back fit and running we will be a potent force in the run in to the end of the season.”
