Royle’s Reaction: Luton

Reaction from Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle following Town’s 1-0 defeat against Luton Town earlier today.
Royle: “The referee gave a penalty, he pointed to the spot but then changed his mind, he knew he made a mistake, you could tell that by his body language at half-time but it was too late by then.
“We should have be 1-0 up at the break but then we had too many players who didn't perform over the 90 minutes. When your best player is your goalkeeper, that tends to say something.
“We didn't pass the ball well, although the pitch was atrocious and not conducive to playing good football. It probably suited their more direct style.
“Our midfield couldn't get going, we didn't defend well and didn't create enough chances. All in all, it was disappointing.”
Joe now admits Town’s play-off hopes are all but gone following the defeat and he has confirmed that he will make changes next week, adding: “We knew it was always going to be a long shot but we still have plenty to play for and want to finish as high as we can, I have a few ideas of where we are going for the future and there will be a changes next week.”
