Town Chairman David Sheepshanks and chief executive Derek Bowden will be short listing the candidates for the managers job over the next few days.
Town have received nearly 40 serious applicants for the job and over the next couple of days Sheepshanks and Bowden will trim the list down and start making contact with managers and clubs.
Sheepshanks: “We have had nearly 40 serious applicants and there have been one or two surprising candidates among them.
“The next step is for the board to agree in principle the profile of the ideal candidate and we will take it from there. At this stage we are ruling everyone in before ruling anyone out.”
Bowden: “We have had a host of applications for the position and myself and the Chairman have gone through the process of looking at every one, we now intend to interview candidates over the next four or five days before drawing up a shortlist.
“The intention then is for more extensive interviews to take place and it's our aim to have a new manager in place before the end of June when the players return for pre-season training.”
It is looking unlikely that former Town defender Tony Mowbray will get the job at
