Town have reportedly been granted permission to speak to former Town defender and Hibernian boss Tony Mowbray.
Mowbray has been in charge at the Easter road side for the past two seasons, in which time he has taken the Hibees to two Scottish Cup semi-finals and in his first season took them to third in the SPL behind the old firm and a fourth placed finish last season.
Mowbray has also been linked with the job at another one of his former clubs, Middlesbrough but it now looks like they will be appointing Terry Venables to take over from Steve McClaren, Hull City are also believed to want to speak with Mowbray after their decision to let Peter Taylor talk to Charlton.
Town chief executive Derek Bowden is remaining tight lipped about proceedings: “Given the fact that we are out of the season, we are not in a rush to make a decision but it is our aim to appoint the new manager by the time the players return to pre-season training at the end of June,”
