Staying Put.

It appears that not only has Eddie Jordan's Ford deal given the the team a real chance for championship glory next year, the deal also persuaded Giancarlo to stay at Silverstone for another year. The Italian was in talks with other teams looking to give up on his final year with the Jordan.
"I'm very pleased. The Ford engine is very strong, it's very light and
hopefully the team will have a better budget too. Henri Durand and Gary
Anderson are designing the new car and I have confidence in both of them. So
I'm very confident."
"Yeah, I was talking with some other teams," he added. "But when I heard about the Ford engine, I decided that Jordan was my best option and so I'm staying for another year."

Talking to ITV-F1, Giancarlo commented on the teams and his own performance in 2002.
"The first part of the year was really difficult. We were struggling with reliability, engine power, car balance, then we got a new engine with more power and a few new parts and suddenly the car was much better, much more competitive."
"We had good races and scored points in Austria, Monte Carlo and Canada but it has still been very tough because all the other teams are becoming more competitive too. We've got two races left and it will be very difficult to score points but we'll give it our best shot."
