Jordan Free Practice

Giancarlo Fisichella got practice off to a good start for Jordan by ending the 2nd session in the top ten. Takuma finished the session in 16th place, however due to the engine failure in the first session, the team had to wait for his chassis to be returned to the garage before Taku could go out.

The regulations say that the same chassis must be used for both practice sessions.  As a result, Taku couldn't use the spare.  The engine from the spare had to be bolted into the back of Taku's EJ12 in order that he could use it in the second session.  No mean feat.  The team were splendid and Taku was able to take to the track for the last half of session two.

Gary Anderson said that the failure was caused by a loss of oil pressure.
