Another scintillating drive saw Jordan increase the gap to BAR from four to six points. Giancarlo Fisichella finished in fifth place, the third time in a row. Takuma Sato drove a steady race to finish in 10th place, just one lap down. Jordan stay in 6th place, just two points behind Sauber.
After initially dropping back to 8th place, Giancarlo drove a steady race to
claim the points for Jordan.
Giancarlo Fisichella:
"Scoring two more points has made this another good day for us. The car was
quite competitive, especially just before my pit stop. We had good balance and
I was even quicker than Raikkonen at the end, but I preferred keeping fifth
position instead of risking anything. I have always been very confident at this
circuit and today our hard work to find the right balance and downforce level
has paid off."
Eddie Jordan:
"This is a fantastic result," said Eddie Jordan. "We did a great job all weekend
and Giancarlo was super today. The whole team - here in Canada at at home in
Silverstone and Brackley - has worked so hard and this result was well earned.
It shows we are going in the right direction and that we are closing the gap on
Sauber and Renault."
Takuma Sato:
"I am pleased to bring the car home. I had a difficult start, losing a
position at the first corner, but later I really enjoying overtaking the cars in
front of me. My second set of tyres didn't behave quite the same as the first
and I almost lost one second a lap struggling with oversteer. The last stint
was ok and I was able to push very hard. Tenth isn't bad, but I hope to score
points soon."
