Jordan's got a new Cossie?

DHL Jordan Cosworth may be more of a reality than anyone could have guessed at the beginning of the season. Jordan appear to be in negotiations with the Northampton based company for a supply of engines for 2003.

Honda look increasingly likely to abandon Jordan and to concentrate on BAR with a view to them taking complete control of the team within the next few years.

Cosworth currently provide engines to Jaguar and Arrows and feel that supply to a third team is not a problem given their fingers in CART, NASCAR and the World Rally Championship.

The engine is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful on the grid.  It's widely accepted that Jaguar's chassis isn't up to the job although Arrows' utilisation of the engine has been impressive and has brought them two world championship points this season.

"Cosworth Racing is one of the leaders in racing engine supply and given the above, you would have to say that the infrastructure is more than adequate. Given that Cosworth Racing supplies CART, NASCAR, World Rally and two F1 teams, the notion of supplying another F1 team is far from out of the question," said a Cosworth spokesman.
