Boyd Gone

Well it is now official. After months of speculation and rumours Boyd has now joined Luton Town after interest from several championship sides

On Thursday came the news that all Pools fans feared. Adam Boyd has left to join Mike Newells Luton. Luton have been linked with Boyd for some time after putting in a bid for £50 000 last January. However the bid was turned down and Luton came back with another bid. The final offer accoring to the BBC was £500 000 but some believe the bid to be more towards £800k.

Boyd has become the fan favourite at the Vic and according to the official website he has scored 60 goals in 163 games include 29 in the season Pools made it to Cardiff.

Boys started his Pools career against Barnet back in 1999 but his first goal for the club was a dramatic last winner from a tight angle against Shrewsbury. Despite his heriocs at the beginning and end of his Pools career the middle part is somewhat of a blur. Neale Cooper was unhappy with him so he was shipped off to Boston on loan. Whilst there Cooper believed that he had gianed weight and sent him back. However when he came back to Pools thats when the fun started. His first game back saw him score twice against Grimsby away from home. The would eventually score 12 goals in 10 games sealing Pools a place in the Division Two play-offs with a dramatic leveller against Swindon.

Boyd has been a delight for most Pools fans to watch. He has treated us to great entertainment like his hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday and his double strike against Tranmere in the playoffs.

Mike Newell has been looking at Boyd for some time and with, former Poolie, Steve Howard leaving Luton this summer to join Derby Boyd was top of Newells hit parade and has signed him on a 3 year deal

Unfortunately for Pools fans the last season we got to see him we was out with a knee injury and only played a small part in the season.

Anyway we all wish Adam Boyd the best of luck at Luton
