After Danny Wilson threatened to get rid of players who weren't giving their all to the club. Friday night will see if his words have taken effect when Boston come to town
Boston are placed just one position above Hartlepool going into the first Friday night game of the season. The Pilgrims have lost 4 of their 5 games and their only victory was a 4-1 hammering of Darlington. Since the sale of Julian Joachim to the Quakers, Boston are yet to score losing 5-0 to Shrewsbury and 1-0 to the MK Dons.
Pools, who are still looking for their first Victory of th new season, are expected to name new signing Willie Boland in the squad. Danny Wilson was furious after the Hereford game thanks to some terrible defending and more poor attacking that has cost Pools so much this season.
Boston have not beaten Hartlepool since 1971 when they won 2-1 in the FA Cup. The two sides have only played each other twice in the league. Hartlepool won both game 2-0 at the Vic and 1-0 at York Street. Two seasons ago the two sides met each other in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. The tie ended 0-0 after Adam Boyd, who was once on loan at Boston, smashed a penalty over the crossbar. The away tie ended 1-0 to Hartlepool with a brilliant goal by Boyd.
