Manager of the month curse or just a bad night? A poor performance that was capped off by a poor result. After scoring 12 goals in 3 Pools failed to make the most of their chances and it cost dearly

Well if there is such a thing as the curse of the manager of the month Pools shoed it last night. Pools created the chances to at least get a point but poor finishing cost us the game as Lincoln got goals either side of the break.

Pools looked more likely to score early on when Joel Porter found himself through 1-1 but he sliced his shot out for a throw in. Then the determined Porter missed a sitter when a Brackstone corner was flicked on by Clarke and Porters touch went over the bar from just 1 yard out.

Jon Daly also came close to scoring when he latched onto a pass from Porter but his weak first time shot was straight at the Lincoln City keeper.

Pools suprisingly failed to put away their chances after 3 games of non stop goals and they paid the penalty when Licoln took the lead just before half time. Forrester reiceved a good ball over the top which beat the Pools defense and he fired across goal into the bottom corner.

Straight after the break it was heart in mouth time when it looked like Lincoln could have had a penalty but the referee awarded a free kick to Pools to the relief of the 672 travelling Pools supporters.

On the hour mark Lincoln City made it 2 when a cross came in and Jeff Hughes headed in at the back post. Pools then struggled to really create anything as Lincoln packed the midfield and Pools were relying on balls over the top but it was never going to work.

Pools then came to life with about 15 minutes left with chances from Matty Robson, Gary Liddle and Jon Daly but nothing was to come of it. Pools will have to play better when Stockport County come to the Vic next saturday.

 

The travelling Pools supporters made some good noise and never stopped supporting the team and even though only 672 went it sounded like 1 000 as Pools outsang the Lincoln fans who were backed by a drum and a full brass band.

I dont know if it was a tactic or just a mistake but when I arrived at the ground with about 25 minutes to kick off the players were not on the pitch so either Wilson had some extra words of encouragment or somebody made a huge mistake and called the players in early
