Well it was not a total dissapointment. Pools created plenty of chances and on another day we would have put them away. An own goal by Dimi was cancelled out by Matty Robson just before half time

A game dominated by Hartlepool with Pools hitting the bar, the post and having numerous chances missed and saved. But it wasnt to be for Pools as the game finished 1-1.

The opeining half hour was short of chances and and the best chance was probably from the visitors when a 35 yard smash was well saved by Dimi down low. Just on half hour Stockport scored one of the most bizzare goals I have seen at The Vic. A corner was curled in to the near post and it seemed to have been punched into the net by Dimi.

After the goal Pools seemed to find their feet and we started to create chances. Joel Porter and Jon Daly both came close. Pools looked likely to score when Gibb wa put through but he couldn't get his shot away in time as he was tackled by a County defender.

Then the Pools fans thought they should have had a definate penalty when Joel Porter was dragged to the ground and despite the appeals of the players and fans the referee turned it down. Pools found their goal just before the break when Joel Porter looped an overhead kick to the back post and it was headed in by Matty Robson.

After the break Pools just couldnt score. The game was controlled by Pools and despite several chances we just couldnt break the deadlock. Joel Porter had a half volley well saved and Robson had a shot go just wide.

Joel Porter then should have scored when he was played through by Daly but the Aussies shot sailed over the crossbar. Then Ben Clarke hit the post with a header from a Ritchie Humphreys corner. Humphreys, Maidens, Nelson and Maidens all had shots go wide of the post.

The game could have been won by Foley or Porter late on but their was just no way through for Pools
