The main talking point of todays game will be the potential move of Richie Barker to Hartlepool but Wilson's main focus of the afternoon will be extending the winning run into the new year
Hartlepool United could be up against a future player today. Richie Barker is Mansfield’s top scorer Richie Barker is supposedly on his way to Hartlepool.
The new Mansfield boss Billy Dearden commented:
'Obviously no one comes into a club as manager and immediately pushes their leading scorer out. But if a deal has already been done then there won't be much I can do about it. I don't know what the situation is and I will be speaking with Richie. I want him here. But if he did go I would look to bring in a replacement with the same experience. You can't just keep going with the kids.'
Hartlepool striker Darryl Duffy is set to make his final appearance for the club today. He joined Hartlepool in November and has scored 5 goals during his time with Pools. Another loan player who could be making his final appearance is Andy Monkhouse; Monkhouse joined the club a few weeks after Duffy and has played on the left wing during his time at Pools.
Hartlepool have Jon Daly back from suspension but it is expected Wilson will be sticking with the same side that beat Peterborough on Saturday. Michael Nelson is still out with a knee injury and Joel Porter, Micky Proctor and Mark Tinkler are still on the long-term injury list.
Mansfield are expected to name the same side which played Accrington Stanley on Saturday. I think it would be safe to say though that if Barker isn’t in the team a move to Hartlepool has been agreed and it is just a matter of time before he becomes a Pools player
