Barker gets first goal

Hartlepools record signing Richie Barker scored his first goal for the club against Wrexham

Hartlepool newest recruit Richie Barker got on the scoresheet for this first time in a Pools shirt when he opened the scoring in the 9th minute at the Racecourse. James Brown played a square ball and Barker made no mistake in curling the ball into the net.

Both team created chances during the game but Wrexham got on level terms when former Pools player Chris Llewellyn scored. During his time at Pools Llewellyn could score for toffee but managed to score yesterday. It is only the 3rd goal Pools have conceded in 12 games

"Richie Barker scored a great goal and that's what he is capable of."

"I'm sure they feel that their goal was a good one too - it wasn't from my point of view, but I'm glad we got out of this with a point." 

The draw keeps Hartlepool 5th in the League 2 - 3 points behind 3rd place and 7 points from top.
