All quiet on the transfer front for Wilson

There has been no interest in Hartlepool’s James Brown during the transfer window … so far. Pools boss Danny Wilson says he hasn’t had a single call about the talented 21-year-old, but he added that it didn’t surprise him. He expects more transfer business to be done in the second half of the transfer window than in the first, with clubs rushing to cash in on any late bargains.

A number of clubs are thought to be trailing Brown, but none have so far conformed any interest.
Wilson told the Hartlepool Mail: "It does not surprise me that there have been no bids because there are another two weeks to go and clubs are waiting to see what is available at the end of the window.
"Prices are too high and people are not in too much of a rush. If one or two clubs get some people in, then it will kick everything off.
"I am not interested in selling any of my players.
"We have got a thin squad as it is. We need to add to it rather than letting people go.
"But I have not got the money to splash out and spend silly. We will have to wait and see what is available to us."
Stockport striker Anthony Elding is the latest to be linked with a possible move to Pools during the transgfer window, but don’t expect any new arrivals until next week at the earliest.
Wilson has two more players available for Friday night’s League One game against Cheltenham at Victoria Park as Godwin Antwi (right) returns after suspension and Jamie McCunnie has returned to training after his knee injury.

But whether either of them gets into the squad remains to be seen after last weekend’s useful 1-1 draw at Northampton.
With two homes games in five days, Wilson is keen for his team to return to something like their best form and pick up the six points available against Cheltenham on Friday and Southend on Tuesday.
But it won’t be easy against a Cheltenham side which has won its last two games, at home against fellow strugglers Bournemouth and Port Vale, and against a Southend side four points ahead of Pools in the table.
But if Pools are to stay well clear of the danger zone near the bottom of the table or, even better, climb back towards the promotion play-off places they need to improve on thnbeir recent home form.
They were unlucky not to beat Leeds on Boxing Day, but should have done better than a 1-1 draw against Leyton Orient three days later. Before those two games, Pools beat both Tranmere and Crewe at the Vic, scoring three goals in the process in each game. Wilson would welcome a repeat and a winning double might help shake off the mid-season lethargy amongst some sections of the club's fans..
