Third win on the trot ends Pools lingering worries

The third win on the bounce for Hartlepool has killed off any lingering fears of a quick return to League Two, but has left many frustrated fans with more questions than answers as tDanny Wilson's rejuvenated team heads for the last nine games of the season in its best form since the opening games of the campaign.

Questions like:

Why has it taken so long for Joel Porter to play as well as we know he can?
Why has it taken so long after injury for Andy Monkhouse to get his chance?
Why is Michael Nelson at last looking his old self in defence?
Why has Antony Sweeney had as inconsistent a season as the team has?

The above are just samples of the sort of questions the fans are asking, and we know the answer to at least one of them - Nelson (right, before he bought his wig) is playing well because Sam Collins brings the best out of him.
The latest win, a 2-1 success over Huddersfield at the Vic came courtesy of as good a team performance as we've seen at home this season. Nelson and Collins were strong at the back, Arran Lee-Barrett looks comfortable in goal, Jamie McCunnie the same at right-back and Richie Humphreys his usual self at left-back.
On the right of midfield, Sweeney had a blinder, hit ther woodwork twice and made a goal in the solrt of performance that begs for him to be taken off the teansfer list quickly. Gary Liddle looked more confident than he has been lately, Willie Boland got stuck in as usual, and Monkhouse always played a part.
Up front, Porter and Michael Mackay ran the Huddersfield defence ragged, and Mackay's second-half goal was the least he deserved.
Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie said Twon nwere the better team in the first half, which is absolute rubbish. They were second best all game and had no right to be only a goal behind in the last quarter.
Now here's another question - if highly-rated James Brown, top scorer Richard Barker and popular Ben Clark, all valuable members of this season's squad, were to be fit for the weekend game at Tranmere, would they get into the side.
On Tuesday night's form, the answer has to be no.
