Pools beat wind and Brighton for third win on trot

Hartlepool's revival after their inconsistent start to the League One season is well and truly under way after their third win on the trot against Brighton. On-loan Kevin Kyle headed the only goals of a game affected by the strong, blustery wind blowing down the Victoria Park pitch, and manager danny Wilson is hoping to extend the Coventry player's stay with the club.

Kyle has come on leaps and bounds since he joined Pools three weeks ago, but his initial loan spell expires after next Saturday's visit to Leyton Orient.
Now wilson plans to speak to Coventry this week in an effort to extend the loan until the end of the year.
Saturday's game wasn't the thriller Vic fans have all become used to in recent weeks, but a 1-0 win still earns the same number of points as a 5-3 win and Wilson was delighted with the way his team coped wih both Brighton and the conditions.
Kyle's match-winning header on 12 minutes was a classic centre-foreard's finish at the far post after James Brown's cross, and there was also good perfoamnces from Joel Porter (again) and Ben Clark, hose return from injury has really made a difference in midfield.
The defence at least managed to keep Brighton out after leaking goals galore recently, but there were scary moments and it's difficult to know how they would have coped if Brighton's two top scorers, Nicky Forster and Glen Murray, had been fit.
It's also difficult to kno whether three wins on the trot, the first clean sheet of the season and the form of Kyle and others will persuade the moaners to give it a rest for a while.
There have been calls for Wilson to be sacked, a new goalkeeper and an entire new defence from the negative brigade almost since the start of the season, and there were just as many who had a go when Kyle was signed.
Will they give credit where it's now now that Pools have hopefully found some consistency?
Don't hold your breath.
But at least the real fans realise that things are improving - Tuesday's visit to struggling Carlisle could really tell us how well Pools are going to do this season.
