Ref gets it wrong and Pools lose at home

Sometimes club owners get it wrong, sometimes managers get it wrong, sometimes players get it wrong and sometimes referees get it wrong - this time it was the ref what done it. Neil Swarbrick's decision to send of Pools captain Sam Collins changed the game at the Vic, and MK Dons were always going to be good enough to beat ten men.

Swarbrick flashed a straight red card to Collins for a last-man challenge on Jemal Johnson. A number of points on the decision:

1 - Johnson was not in a goalscoring position
2 - It wasn't a foul, it was more a tangle of legs
3 - The decision to book Collins earlier was not a good one, though it was a foul
4 - The ref got many other decisions wrong apart from this one

So, we wuz robbed and even MKD boss Roberto Di Matteo admitted after the game that the decision looked a harsh one to him, and opposition bosses rarely make such admissions.
No wonder Pools boss Danny Wilson was angry after the game, describing the ref's decision as awful.
Pools had been playing OK before the red card, giving the in-form Dons as much as they got and even missing a couple of half-chances. And when they were down to ten men, they got things sorted thanks to Wilson's half-time tactical changes and had as many second-half chances as the Dons, if not more.
The third goal was one of those had-to-happen things as Pools were caught on the break.
So 90 miniutes of football for which two clubs had been preparing for a week was ruined by one decision which most observers believe was a mistake.
Call that justice?
Call that respect?
Cobblers - and I don't mean Northampton Town.
