Turner's second coming starts with an easy win

Four days after Danny wilson was sacked, Hartlepool strolled to their first win in Seven League One games - and it as even easier than the score suggests. Between the first and second goals, Southend threatened to come back into the game, but otherwise they were weak and in the last quarter of the game they were trying to keep th score down with ten men.

A lot of people have been saying that on recent form pools have been in danger of relegation, and of course that's right.
But in his first match in his second spell as Pools boss, Chris Turner (right) inspired a win that was as valuable as it was easy and a performance that demonstrated the team is better than recent results have suggested.
Keeper Jan Budtz played well and made a couple of good saves at the feet of forwards, the back folur kept a clean sheet, which makes a change, the midfield looked more positive than it has for ages, and Kevin Kyle scored two goals.
As a bonus, Joel Porter returned from injury with a great game, bu the man of the match - agin - was Matty Robson, and this time the sponsors actually spotted the fact and gave him the award.
A change in manager often makes a difference for a team, and it certainly did for Pools on Friday night.
Whether Turner is the man for the job on a long term basis will perhaps be clear after the trip to Scunthorpe on Boxing Day and the home game against Crewe on Sunday, December 28.
Meanwhile, he's not got off to a bad start has he?
