Hartlepool have signed Blackpool striker Daniel Nardiello on loan for the rest of the season, and he is in the squad for Saturday's League One game at Brighton. The Welsh international started his career at Wolves, but signed for Manchester United as a teenager for £200,000. He went on loan to Swansea and Barnsley before signing a permanent deal with the Yorkshire club.
In June 2007 he turned down a new contract at Barnsley as well as an approach by Norwich, signing instead for Queen's Park Rangers. But he spent the second half of the 2007-08 season back at Barnsley on loan.
In July last yhear QPR let him go to Blackpool, but injuries meant he didn't make his debut until this month, when he was in the side knocked out of the FA Cup by non-League Torquay.
Good old Wikipedia have already updated his entry with the news that he has joined Pool;s, so it must be right when it states that Nardiello was qualified to play for Wales, Italy, England, Puerto Rico and the United States, and as a schoolboy he played for England before winning senior caps with Wales.
Nardiello's recent record suggests his career badly needs a kick start, and he claims that he is now fully fir and desperate to make a success of his move to Pools.
He is not Adam Boyd, who has allegedly been seen in several bookmakers, estate agents, pubs and hotels in Hartlepool in the last week or two, but Nardiello does have a good pedigree and Pools are just as desperate for him to do well as he is.
Chris Turner says Pools haven't even made an enquiry about Boyd, though he somehow knows that "Adam would love to come back to Hartlepool".
So if he doesn't sign this week, he'll be here in the summer then, eh?
Liam Henderson, on loan from Watford, made his debut up front against Carlisle in midweek and while he didn't exactly set the world on fire, he did enough to suggest he deserves another chance, and with top scorer Joel Porter struggling with tendonitis, as a case of all hands to the pumps in the Pools attack at present.
