Turner embarrassed by Pools flop

Hartlepool caretaker boss Chris Turner says he was embarrassed by Hartlepool's awful form as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at struggling Cheltenham - and he wasn't the only one. The small band of faithful travelling fans who travlled to the south west for the game were sent home with nothing to give them a smile on the long return journey.

In fact, they probably spent the trip home complaining about the team's awful display - a suicidal cockail of bad defending, weakness in midfield and a powder-puff attack that did little or nothing to threaten the worst team in League One.
In fact, it was Pools who looked the worst team in the League as Cheltenham at least managed to play some relaxed football that had urgency in it when it was needed.
Losing at Cheltenham is bad enough - deserving to lose is unforgiveable.
With some results going against them in the relegation zone, Pools can't afford this form to continue or the remote possibiliouty of relegation will be transformed into certainty.
yeovil llosing havily at Brighton was a mixed result for Pools, Hereford losing at home was good news, but Crewe winning away wasn't It looks as if some of the teams below them are putting more into the safety battle than Pools are at the moment.
On the form they showed at Chelenham, they WILL go down, and that is a frustrating state of affairs when Turner and the fans know they can do better.
He gave the whole team a roasting after the game, and they deserved it. Whether that will be enough to stir them out of the form they showed in this game remains to be seen.
At least after a long spell of two games in a week, he at least has all week to repare for the next test, at home to Millwall next Saturday.
