Time to get your results right at home, Pools

Right, Pools, you’ve proved you can get yourselves a good away record this season – now show us that you can repair your record at home and start turning the Vic into a fortress. It’s a year since the team managed back-to-back wins in League One, and it’s time to put a record described by at least one player as “embarrassing” behind them.

Last weekend’s emphatic win at Swindon, against a Danny Wilson side unbeaten since the first day of the season, proved that the Pools squad put together by Chris Turner is capable of being more than just also-rans this season.
But the home record is just not good enough.
Andy Monkhouse is the man who has described the year-long wait for two wins on the trot as “embarrassing”, but presumably it’s a view shared by his team-mates, especially those who were with the club last season. If they don't agree, they certainly should.
Pools line up against Tranmere at the Vic on Saturday for a game they just have to win.
It’s not that they are in a crisis, but results at home have not been good and it’s time the team showed the paying customers what they can really do.
The boo boys have made their presence felt at home this season, and of course they have a right to express their opinions after paying to watch a team struggling to win at home.
But much of the criticism has been unfair and just as much of it has been totally out of order.
Turner said before the season started that time would be needed for the new squad to knit together as a team, and he’s being proved right.
But the signs are there that Pools have the potential Turner said they have, and now it’s up to him and his players to turn that potential into consistent performances and consistent results.

And the crowd can play a part by getting behind the team and creating a positive, winning atmosphere for the players. Getting on their backs is pointless.
The team that won at Swindon didn’t look anything like the one that could only manage to draw with Brentford at the Vic a week earlier, and that inconsistency is the problem that needs to be solved.

Beating Tranmere would be a great start.
