Pools need to urgency on and off pitch

Caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth can talk as much as he likes about his theory that Hartlepool United won't suffer the same worries this season as they did in 2009-10 and the players can back up his theory with talk of unity in the dressing room and out on the pitch.

But if you don't beat teams like Exeter at home, you can expect trouble. The done thing here is for us to add "with all due respect to Exeter" ... well, stuff that.
We couldn't care less about Exeter, as long as we beat them. Because that's what Pools need to survive.
They just HAD to win at the Vic and in the first half they looked as if they would after a good recovery from an early Exeter goal, but defensive lapses and more missed chances meant they slumped to their third League One defeat on the trot.
Losing one is not good, losing two is bad, but losing three poses a major problem, and Pools badly need to recognise that now.
Chairman Ken Hodcroft drew attention in his programme column to the fact that the Northern Echo's Nick Loughlin had suggested it was time to find a new manager quickly, but didn't say whether he agreed, disagreed or couldn't give a toss.
As usual, KH will go about the job of replacing Chris Turner in the same way he has gone about appointing managers before ... slowly.
Let's ope it's not too slowly.
Ryan Harley gave Exeter and early lead, but old faithful Richie Humphreys - drafted in as a striker - blasted an equalizer from the edge of the area and Tony Sweeney, looking more like his old self this season, scored from close in after a Humphreys header was stopped on the line.
But John O'Flynn levelled three minutes after half-time, and gave City the match-winning lead ten minutes later, Andy Monkhouse and subs Adam Boyd and Denis Behan, who hit the bar, all failing to convert good Pools chances.
Wadsworth pointed to some good attacking form from pools, but had to admit that bad defending cost them the game. He added: "We have to stick together because I still think we're not far away from being a good team."
Trouble is, on results, Pools are even closer to being a bad one and in the meantime Hodcroft's apparent lack of urgency in sorting the management structure out is not helping anybody.
