Wadsworth keeps busy as Pools dilly-dally

For a man who isn’t even a manager, Hartlepool United's Mick Wadsworth is keeping very busy. He does everything the manager would do, as well as coaching the team, but still the powers that be at Victoria Park haven't named him as the boss.
We wouldn’t for a minute suggest this is because they are getting two people for less than the price of one, and of course as usual at Pools we do not have access to the real story about Wadsworth and his situation.
So in the absence of anything coming from the club, all the fans – and that includes us – have every right to ask questions.
Questions like:
- Don't they owe it to Wadsworth and the players to sort out the manager situation now?
- If it’s not MW they fancy for the job, who DO they want?
There are other questions, too, of course. But as we know we won’t be getting any official answers, they’ll do to be getting on with.
Meanwhile, Wadsworth continues to do everything but sweep out the dressing rooms. He'd probably be doing that if he could stick a brush .... well, you know.
The temporary/caretaker/stand-in manager is behind an official club appeal against the red card shown to his unofficial right-hand-man Richie Humphreys late in Saturday’s home FA Cup draw against Vauxhall Motors.
After the first red card in his 500-plus professional games, Humphreys faces a three-game ban if the decision is upheld, meaning he will miss Wednesday night’s Johnstone’s paints trip to his former club Sheffield Wednesday, next Saturday’s home League One game against runaway leaders Brighton and the Vauxhall replay the following Tuesday.
that's a bikg game, with a home second round tie against Yeovil awaiting the winners, who will then be just 90 minutes from every small club's cup dream - a glamour tie in round three.
Wadsworth has also signed a new keeper on loan, Wigan’s 19-year-old Lee Nicholls arriving for a month’s loan to back-up another loan man, Blackburn’s Jake Kean, as Scott Flinders continues his recovery from injury.
He’ll be on the bench at Sheffield.
