Pools ticket sales pick up

After what many people perhaps thought was a slow start, season ticket sales at Hartlepool United appear to have picked up, with queues forming outside the Victoria Park ticket office.

Sales are now approaching the 2,000 mark, and while that isn’t the sort of figure that would impress Premiership clubs, it’s not bad for Pools at this stage of the close season.

With adult tickets costing just £155 and concessions even less, it looks like the fans are catching on to the deal.

Meanwhile, Pools have announced a second pre-season home game against another of their neighbours.

They play Sunderland on Friday July 27, and that game will now be followed by a game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, July 31. Both games are at home and follow the club’s annual training week in Holland, where they play two games.

The matches should help Pools boss Neale Cooper’s ambition to forge closer ties with the big clubs on the Pools doorstep.

James Brown, released by Pools at the end of last season, has signed a deal with Blue Square Vauxhall Johnstone's Paints Conference Carling Premier club Gateshead – with respect to the Tyneside club, it’s a pity that a player with the huge potential Brown showed a few years ago had dropped out of League football in a career blighted by injury.

Hopefully he'll get a chance to shine for them next season.
