Hughes and Barron Sacked
Hung Out To Dry?

John Hughes and Micky Barron have been sensationally shown the door. One can only assume that it's all down to the retained list of players and/or the fact that there is little scope to bring in new blood ...
It could well be the latter. Hughes has been very public in putting pressure on chief executive Russ Green over recent weeks as being the man to do the deals to bring in half a dozen or so new players who Hughes wanted.
Ken Hodcroft is not a man to be pushed into anything which he does not think makes sound business sense. Presumably that's why Phil Brown and his entourage were not engaged at the eleventh hour, and one can only guess that something similar has happened here with long termer Micky Barron becoming embroiled in the internal politics.
If past events are anything to go by we will never learn the full truth. This is the club's statement: "The club would like to thank John for all his efforts to try and secure League One status since he joined the club in November 2012. We wish him all the very best for the future.
“Hartlepool United would also like to thank Micky for his commitment and effort during his time as assistant first and reserve team coach and he also leaves with our very best wishes."
So who is next for the managerial hot seat? Take a punt on Sir Ritchie Humphreys.

Timewise this is the right time for a shake-up so we can get the right man in and give him a chance to shape a team.
Fergie needs a new challenge!
If thats the criteria they could get someone from West View ..
My money is on Stu Drummond
Good stuff in the Mail tonight about starting with
I HONESTLY can’t stress how impressive an individual he is. He shares our vision of where we want the club to go”.
Russ Green, chief executive, November, 2012.
Give the coaches job to Ritchie and hire Max Clifford as chief exec. Our PR is a disaster
