I suppose we should not be  surprised but the goings on at the Vic are geting more weird by the day ..

It's nearly a week since the players at the Boro allegedly found out that Colin Cooper was going to be our new manager but no puffs of smoke from the chimney outside Russ Green's office.

Now two ageing pros have been given new contracts while there's a deathly silence about the third.

Sam Collins and Andy Monkhouse are canny players - at least Collins normally is and Monky is when he feels like it.

The third, of course, is Ritchie Humphreys who has not been mentioned this week despite also being out of contract. Despite some opinions elsewhere Ritchie, like Micky Barron, has been a superb servant to the club and still has something to offer on the pitch. The club is a better place for having dedicated professionals like him around.

So what does it all mean. Perm any two ..

1. The retention of Collins and Monkhouse shows what we all thought - the playing staff is managed by Hodcroft and Green.

2. If Colin Cooper is the new manager is Ritchie waiting to see what role he will be offered or has he been told already and isn't happy?

3. Is Ritchie actually going to be our new manager and not Colin Cooper?

4. If it is Cooper is he arguing the toss with Hodcroft and Green about bringing in his own backroom staff?

5. Will Ritchie's future only be decided when Stephen Howard and his rumoured £8k a week are off the books?

6. Why does Richard Humphreys have a "t" in his pet name?
