Walker Wonderstrike

A fabulous volley from Brad Walker  just seconds after his introduction won us a point which for most of the afternoon had looked like eluding us ...

We were pretty lethargic throughout and if Burton Albiuon were not in the habit of scoring justv one goal in each game they play they would have gone home deserved winners.

Their forwards gave us a lesson in creating  space, which was something we rarely failed to do until Jon Franks' fresh legs bruight Luke James more into the game.

Burton had gone ahead in the 17th minute. Their play had deserved a goal, but the referee and linesmen should have awarded Pools a free kick in the build up  when Luke James was clearly bundled to the groiund as he challenged on the half way.. 

Two passes later and right-back Phil Edwards shot underneath the legs of Scott Flinders.

Burron had scored their goal and pulled men back behind the ball to defend what they had, while we looked tired after our exertions against Coventry in midweek.

Burton had several chanes most of which were screwed wide much to the relief of Flinderrs.

We did put toghther the best move of he ghame shortly after the restart when a delighhtful little through ball was returned to James by Poole, but the Burtron goalie spread himself and deflected the shot.

Walker's superb effort, with the outside of his right foot, came in the 70th minute. It should have been a signal for an onslaught on the visiting goal. But it wasn't.
