One Signing Doesn't Make A Summer

Now that Colin Cooper is back from a deserved break let's hope he can bring in the goods on the transfer market. True to form his first acquisition is someone he has known from the Boro ..

Already knowing a player must be handy, but there are one or two concerns over centre half Matthew Bates. He has had four knee operations in his career so far and has been  released  at the end of the season by his last two clubs - Bristol City and Bradford City.

Hopefully being reunited with Cooper will bring out the best of him.

And the same sentiment has to go to Tony Sweeney who rejected a testimonial year to move to Carlisle who say they are delighted to land a box to box player. Well that was Sweeney's strength,  but we haven't seen much of that in recent seasons so let's hope for his sake he can recreate that form and also reignite his career.

Apparently we are also waiting to hear whether James Poole will accept an offer of a new contract. Don't think that will be creating many sleepless nights in TS24 and  25 .
