A last ditch equaliser was no more than new manager Paul Murray deserved. His two new signings made an impact and his team fought to the very end.

They were two down with ten minutes to go, but rejuvenated Brad Walker got the first before Duckworth earned the point. Newport County had gone ahead with two soft goals.

The first from a wayward Franks back pass went straight to  Chris Zebroski in the first half, and the second when a break away led to the ball falling  for Aaron O'Connor.

Brad Walker got one back with a belting shot before Duckworth danced his way into the box and slotted home.

It should really have been three points for Pools. However, he spirit of the  side was a major bonus, as was the debut from holding midfielder Nicky Featherstone and a lively entry from the bench for Dutchman Sidney Schmeltz who has the pace and directness we have been lacking.
