Billy Paynter will lead the Pools side which opens the seaon by welcoming Morecambe but who his ten teammates will be remains a mystery.    

Ronnie Moore is either playing mind games or he has a serious injury crisis.

Jordan Richardson is out with a back injury while Trevor Carson may or may not be between the sticks because of a toe injury. There are, apparently, other issues which means Ronnie won't be revealing his side until the last minute - one hour before kick off.

Many of his ten close season signings will figure  though. The manager is promising a younger, faster more vibrant side than last season (to be honest that won;'t be too difficult).

His side will come up against a footballing side in Morecambe who this week signed forward Shaun Miller and young Preston North End striker Jack Ryan on a three-month loan.

What can we expect after a strange pre-season? "Anything" is the answer.
