Defence Must Be Sorted

Pools defence is a major concern. Once again we were under the cosh for most of the game at Northampton with our only cheer being Rakish Bingham's long awaited goal...

By the time he scored it were already trailing 2-0 and didn't really look like getting another. One of the goals was an OG from on loan Boyce and one has to wonder where Dan Jones has got to.

He was on form last season, and is said to be over his injury,  so while we have a crisis  let's play our own and not rely on loaness who, with the best will in the world, have interests elsewhere.

In the meantime we will have to soldier on with Carl Magnay who has been banned for six games for allegedly spitting at a Wycombe supporter.

Magnay has now issued this statement on the Pools' website.

"I categorically deny spitting on anyone and find the allegation made against me inaccurate. This is something I find abhorrent and simply would not do.
 
“There is no reaction by those in the vicinity where I spit, something which is supported by the video evidence.
 
“I would like to thank everyone connected with Hartlepool United for their support and I look forward to representing the Club again once my ban is complete.”
