Norther Ireland centre back Liam Donnelly is a surprise triallist for Pools against Sunderland at the Vic tonight (kick off 7.30) ..

Just two years ago Donnelly captained Fulham in the FA Youth Cup final and in the same year his senior Northern Ireland debut as a sub in the friendly against Chile.

The 20 year old has also been capped a n umber of times at youth and U21 level by his country and had league experience on loan at Crawley Town last season.

He's now a free agent and it just may be that Hignett and Fleming can get the best out of a still very young player.
