Jordan on trial in Macclesfield!

Hartlepool United have confirmed that the distinctly un-plastic Andrew Jordan is to play a trial game for Macclesfield. The son of Scottish legend Joe Jordan has struggled to make an impact at the Vic, and this may be a prelude to his eventual departure.

Jordan's last appearance for Pools came in September's win at Stockport County; since then he has been limited to the bench and the reserves. Initially brought in to provide competition in the middle, he also provided another option on the left - although not a particularly successful experiment.

The official site article about the chance for Jordan comments about how the good form of Westwood and Nelson has restricted the 24 year old's chances, but it's questionable how much of this is the standard message. While Westie and Nelson have formed a great partnership, Cooper has also signed Scott Walker and seems to prefer him ahead of Jordan anyway - witness the fact that Walker made his debut in the centre of defence against Barnsley.

Macclesfield are struggling at the wrong end of the table, currently in the relegation zone in Division 3, and they have already changed their manager - veteran player John Askey taking over in October. Some bolstering of the defence would seem to be in order away from home - they have conceded more goals in their away games than any other side in the division, an average of more than two per game.

Will Jordan impress the management at Moss Rose? If he does, a loan signing is a distinct possiblility, and with the defender no longer seeming to feature in Pools plans a permanent deal is a possibility.

Meanwhile, there has been some good news on the injury front; Eifion Williams, Chris Westwood and Mickey Barron are all expected to be fit for Saturday's game at Wycombe. With Nelson suspended, Pools had been facing the prospect of being able to field just one of Friday's back four - and up front at least we will be able to field two recognised strikers in Eifion and Porter. Adam Boyd's loan finishes in the next few days, and Boston are once again talking about a permanent deal - but as yet there's nothing official. Pools are being linked by some to Clyde winger Jack Ross - although any deal would now have to wait until the summer. And there's another rumour circulating that Pools are to look at building a new stadium - this time on the Marina - with Morrisons taking on the site of the Vic. This is one that just won't seem to die, but personally I won't be holding my breath!
